HOW YOUR BODY REACTS TO ENERGY DRINK

(You’ll Never Want to Drink Another One!)

Once you learn how your body reacts to so-called “energy drinks,” you’ll never want to open another one.

We’ve all been there. It’s getting close to time to leave work and the clock is slowly ticking. You feel your eyelids get heavier by the second. You need an energy boost and you reach for the closest thing; an energy drink.

Energy drinks promise to give you a mental boost or claim to enhance mental and physical performance, something that each of us needs from time to time.

Sure, you might get that shot of energy and mental boost that you were looking for, but is drinking that energy really worth the dangers that are hidden in that little can?

Unfortunately, not many people are aware of the hidden dangers that can be found in a can of energy drink.

Energy drinks can give you the same effects as drinking a cup of coffee, but those effects shortly wear off.

Soon you’ll be feeling lethargic again and you’ll grab another can. It turns into a vicious cycle.

Energy drinks do contain caffeine, but they also have added chemicals and artificial sweeteners.

One ingredient found in many popular energy drinks, called aspartame, has been known to cause many problems.

Aspartame causes neurotic, metabolic, allergenic, fetal and carcinogenic (cancer-causing) effects.

Both the Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust and University of Massachusetts Department of Emergency Medicine warn that caffeine can raise blood pressure, disrupt quality of sleep and sleep habits, aggravate psychiatric conditions and induce reliance.

Excessive caffeine consumption can cause caffeine intoxication that leads to a fast heartbeat, vomiting, seizure, and death.

Energy drinks affect blood vessel function and increase the chance of having a blood clot form.

The chemicals and artificial sweeteners that are found in energy drinks cause your blood to become clingy and make it stick to the walls of your vessels, making you at a higher risk of developing blood clots.

“A study conducted by the Cardiovascular Research Centre at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in Australia found that energy drinks could increase the risk of strokes and heart attacks. According to the research, even consuming one can of the caffeinated energy drink Red Bull could cause the blood to become sticky, increasing the risk of clotting.”

Fortunately, drinking energy drinks is not the only way to get over that 3pm slump. There are other ways to increase your energy and that helps you feel better, naturally. For instance,
  • Increase your intake of Omega-3 fats.
  • Eliminate sugar and grains from your diet.
  • Exercise but don't do it to the extent on how exercise affects your health. By exercising, you’ll get a great boost of endorphins and will immediately feel better.
  • Make sure you’re getting improved quality of sleep at night.
  • Eliminate and avoid stressful situations.
You can even try adding more fruits and vegetables into your diet so that you can get the health benefits of fruits and vegetables. Also, try drinking more water and avoid dehydration.

There are many ways that you can increase your energy levels, no matter what time it is.
